Exhibition: <SOMETHING TO PUT SOMETHING IN> at Place by Method, Tokyo, Japan
WEAVE PLASTIC is conceived while processing offcut materials of recycled plastic boards. Since there was a lot of offcuts piled up in the factory after making furniture with this material, we were reconsidering how to use it fully environmentally with no waste and came up with the idea of slicing these offcuts. By slicing the material into thin layers, the solid recycled plastic boards became flexible straps, which enable to weave and design everyday product, basket. A series of unique baskets was created by combining traditional Korean basketry technique with speckled and colorful texture of recycled plastic. Because of its materiality, they are lightweight, durable, and even waterproof.
