For Re;Code <RE;COLLECTIVE MILAN> exhibition curated by Jo Nagasaka & Schemata Architects

For ‘RE;COLLECTIVE MILAN’ exhibition held by Korean upcycling brand Re;code, we created KERF PLASTIC CHAIR & ARMCHAIR, the results of our current experiment on recycled plastic board. We’ve found that this material is highly similar to the plywood in terms of materiality and tried to apply a woodworking technique, ‘Kerf Bending’, which is used to bend a wood to the recycled plastic. Hard and thick plastic boards become soft and bent without the use of heat, glue, or any chemical process. This new possibility of processing the material is what we aimed to showcase through out this work.
