Commissioned by MMCA (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art), KUO DUO was involved in a new project for Korea’s representative museum, with plans to tentatively open a space in the museum’s public area, which has not yet been fully accessible to the public.

KD designed modular furniture that can be used as a lounge space but can also be adapted for various functions, such as talks, press briefings, and workshops. Named the MCS (Modular Composition System), this furniture can be used individually as chairs or stools, but can be connected to form different shapes, such as sofas or benches. The design emphasizes minimalist, refined forms, with key features including the repetition of scale and the playful variety of configurations. Additionally, the furniture is built with a lightweight structure and upholstered seats. To complement the vibrant, colorful tones of the museum’s ceiling, fabrics with vivid colors were selected from the Italian fabric brand Fidivi.
